What Can You Change at the Aesthetician?

The Aesthetician or ‘barber’ named Jandelaine will change some minor things about your character’s appearance for the price of 2000 gil per visit. You can summon him using the crystal bell in your inn room or private housing, after completing the level 15 sidequest Beauty is Only Scalp Deep.

For Hrothgar (and Viera) the features you may select at character creation are more limited than the other races. As a result, it’s especially useful to know what your options are with the aesthetician, since some may be limited to the clan, face, or hairstyle you chose at creation and otherwise require the use of a fantasia.

Fur Pattern – This lets you change the design on your fur. You’ll choose from leopard spots, tiger stripes, etc. All Hrothgar have the same five pattern options regardless of clan, face, or hairstyle. Keep in mind the pattern appears on your upper chest and back, forearms, calves, and tail.

Fur Colour – This is what you use to change the colour of your fur and also your hair since they share the same colour. There is a secondary ‘highlight’ colour you can change which controls the colour of your fur’s pattern (spots or stripes). The highlight colour options are the same for both the Helions and the Lost clans, but for the main fur colour, Helions tend towards warmer reds and tans, while the Lost tend towards cooler blues and greys. There are many overlapping colours that both can use.

Eyebrows – This gives you a few options to adjust the character’s eyebrows making them higher, lower, or more pronounced. The overall effect is what your character’s default ‘mood’ looks like, since a higher eyebrow tends to look kinder, while a lower eyebrow or one that juts out more can look more aggressive.

Facial Features – These options are specific to the face AND hair combination you selected on your Hrothgar and include things like whiskers, horn, sideburns, beards, bangs, and extra locks of hair at the front. You can even change the size of your ears here.

Tattoos & Tattoo Colour – Same as the other races, you can display tattoos on your character and change the colours. There are two tattoo options per face type. Most have one above the eyes and one below. The colour options are the same as everyone else’s.

Face Paint & Face Paint Colour – All races have the same face paint options, so this is one area where you still have lots of choice.
